Reviewing ALL of Tatsuki Fujimoto's One-Shots | 22-26
What was Fujimoto cooking before he created Chainsaw Man? In this video I'll be covering the 4 short stories that comprise "Tatsuki Fujimoto Before Chainsaw Man 22-26".
*Just a small correction; in "Sisters" I call Mitsuko's sister "Kyoko" because that's what her name is listed as on MAL, but on her painting you can see the name as "Anzu Ehara".

I disagree that Guts clapping demon cheeks to kill her doesn't make sense because of Guts' trauma. Having sexual trauma is incredibly complicated and can lead to seemingly incoherent or inconsistent behavior such as being hypersexual, while also not wanting anyone to touch you in any other circumstances. People with sexual trauma also often have dark fantasies pretty much exactly like that scene so, considering the point he is in his story during the black swordsman arc, I think it makes perfect sense.

My main disagreement here would be the fact that Guts never really acts this way outside of this specific moment.

We need more down to Earth versions of Lelouch and Light. Lelouch is probably one of my favorite anti-hero/vigilante characters, especially how he is portrayed in the English dub. Both Lelouch and Light are both reasonably and unreasonably smart if that

I also thought Chainsaw Devil being responsible for erasing existence was strange but once I learned, the original purpose of a chainsaw, all of the dots connected. The original purpose of chainsaws was to cut through the pelvis of a delivering mother during *childbirth* . Chainsaws = existence If they facilitate existence then they naturally can do the reverse. Genius writing by Fujimoto. If only he included some hint of that in the story since no one actually knows this fun fact.

I think his gripes with this part don't make sense as gripes with the iart other than the makima back story cause they're all things that are gonna get answered later. This is chainsaw man part 1 what he wants to know all seem like later reveals, we all know pochita can't just be the chainsaw devil but must be a 2 devil hybrid or whatever but if that was revealed in part 1, part 2 and if we get a part 3 after and so on wouldn't be as good cause there wouldn't be as much drawing us in

There is some serious stuff brewing behind the scenes of arc 2. Getting the devils of the apocalypse togather to fk shit up. Still so many unanswered questions drifting behind the surface, fujimoto is letting denji grapple with himself before a confrontation with pochita or sumthin.

I think you are projecting your own ideas on what is presented in the manga. Musashi realized, and has written in the book of five rings, that you have to look for "the weakest opponent", the ones not willing to fight, and have to take them out first. They only clutter up the ranks, and make it harder to conclude the battle. You go from weakest to strongest, so most of your problems are dealt with, before you face off against someone capable. Musashi wrote, that you have to be like water. You don't need to quote Bruce Lee for it - he read the damned book of Musashi. The state of the fight against Denshichiro, Musashi also displayed against Seijuro. It is the state of shapelessness. A state that Ittosai also wanted to reach. A state of mind where instinct takes over all action and where thought is completely removed. It's probably Zen inspired, or inspired Zen to begin with, but it's also something you realize when doing sports or anything physical. Sometimes being completely relaxed and free of thought is your absolute peak - and Inoue played Basketball in a school team, and probably read some of the works of the characters he portrays. - I still took something away from the video, but you make this seem way more inspired by outside sources than it seems to be. Just hits wrong. Seems sorta fart-huffy.

Vid was mostly a personal reflection about how reading that book put many of the ideas and themes presented in Vagabond into perspective for me. That was my personal journey with the manga, and I'm not saying that it was the sole inspiration for it but rather what put it all into perspective for me personally. "Flow State" is a very common thing in sports but I didn't know about it at the time of making this vid; would have been a great example tho

I feel like the reason why Makima doesn't really need a backstory is because of how the story doesn't really need her backstory. Makima is an outside force, something foreign to Denji. Even though Denji beat her, he still couldn't truly understand what was going through her head (I think). I think the story is supposed to be about Denji, and how he copes with Makima being, well, Makima. We don't really need to see Makima's backstory to see how Denji grows and changes through his experiences with her. Thats just what I think though

I don't mind the main character being the paragon of something; it doesn't make you the bad guy or necessarily gullible. She had reason to trust him because he was her favorite teacher, someone she knew. It's amazing she was able to keep that mindset so long in life. Most people would have let skepticism or environmental circumstances change them,

I read this manga YEARS ago & man I still love it. As another comment mentioned, yeah the musical chairs round was an insane point in the story but one bit I'll also always remember is the ending. I don't know the general feel about it since I just found the manga on a whim during my big "high stakes games" kick that also made me discover Kaiji & just never looked into public perception, but I personally loved the way the final round ended as a culmination of everything & even enjoyed the little epilogue bit with how it had a "there's always more to the story" situation. Not giving exact details away since this video mainly covered the character dynamics.

also on the note of characters, yeah I could relate to Nao in ways since I've always been a "why do people have to be jerks to each other" kind of person. Not to the "return one fucking dollar to the lost & found" levels obviously but I still try to see the best in people where I can.

I know it's a little late but I just re-read the manga, and regarding makima's "origin" and the reason she remembers the things that dissapeared, when she throws that spear thing I swear she makes a deal to take off 1000 years of her life, so I'm assuming she's is OLLLLLD, like almost primordial devil old, she's probably been through the loop of trying to conquer chainsaw man a good couple times.
